e-txt™ email

Q. Can I send from email to SMS? and is there a way to control the length of the message?

A. The e-txt email gateway has a lot of features. The basic info is in the e-txt 'How-To' guide - see:

http://www.e-txt.co.uk/userguides/How%20to%20send%20from%20email%20to%20text.pdf

A 'best kept secret' is the #end# marker to indicate, in the email, where you want your SMS text message to end. use #end# for a clean end to a short text message - and of course use #end# at the end of a long, multi-SMS message.

You’ll find that you’ll particularly need #end# to make web-based email accounts work because of all the extra information they attach to the end of emails.

Q. Can I get SMS sent back to my email?

A. The best, most flexible way is to use a dedicated Long Number (so a regular UK mobile number - like 07786 200 365). These cost a bit - £20 a month is the book price.

Your long number appears as the sender (originator) of the text messages - so it's dead easy for people to just reply to the text they receive from you - AND - because it's your long number you can advertise it and anyone can send to it any time.

When people reply - the text message goes into your e-txt
account - from where you can set up a rule to auto-forward all texts to your email address.

(And from e-txt
you can send back a reflex text response, if appropriate, saying 'Thanks for your text - we're dealing with your request...').

If the texts sent to you start with a particular keyword (Councils use key words for abandoned cars, fly-tipping etc) - then the incoming texts can be routed to the best email address to handle the senders query.

Q. Can I incorporate e-txt into my Microsoft Outlook email account?

A. Yes you can! With our new e-txt plug-in for Outlook, you can have the functionality of e-txt within your email interface. Please note, you must have at least Outlook 2007.

You will need to set up an e-txt account, simply click the link below and register on e-txt web.
